Northeast 7v7 Junior League
Milton High School Football Coach Steve Dembowski and Westwood High School Coach Brad Pindel have joined forces to establish Northeast 7v7 Junior League. The league is designed to offer middle school age kids a safe introductory experience to football. We will accomplish this by following the 7v7 format in which the ball carrier is tagged instead of tackled and no blocking is allowed.
The league will begin on September 22nd and meet weekly on Saturdays from 4-7pm for 8 weeks at either Milton or Westwood High School. Teams in the league will learn basic football concepts and skills while competing weekly in games. The 7v7 format that has become extremely popular at the high school level and features a 40 yard regulation field with a ten yard endzone. Each team play with seven players at a time and the action is continuous. This is fastest growing style of football in the country because it's fun. The league will operate under Northeast 7v7's modified rules to make it more accommodating to athletes in grades 6 through 8 grade. No prior experience is necessary. Teams will have an hour of action a week, which will include a brief practice and games. All athletes will receive a uniform with their name and choice of number and the only required piece of equipment is a mouth piece but cleats are recommended. Games will be played on turf fields.
