OPEN DIVISIONBB&N Holds off Lynn EnglishThe Open Division playoff featured some consistent programs in 7v7 football. BB&N is no stranger to this group, and this year they have handled all comers. The latest challenge came from Lynn English, who beat Marblehead and Methuen to reach the finals. With English trailing by 8 (14-6) with time running down the bulldogs scored to narrow the margin to 14-12. However the Knights, knocked down the two-point pass and claimed their second Open title.

SMALL SCHOOL DIVISIONSwampscott Out Duals Greater Lawrence tech in Small School DivisionThe Small School Division featured four NEC Teams on one side of the bracket. Swampscott beat Danvers, then Salem who had defeated Winthrop to reach the finals. Greater Lawrence Tech defeated KIPP Academy and St Mary's who had eliminated Wilmington. GLT scored first but Swampscott answered with two scores to take a 14-6 lead. GLT mounted a drive and scored with 3 minutes left, but their two-point play failed. Swampscott put the game away with a final score to make it 20-12.

BB&N Converts to Claim the East, 28-25 over Marblehead
7/24/2021 - The 2021 East Regional at Bishop Fenwick HS featured a competitive bunch of teams. The field featured 30 varsity teams and for the first time an eight-team freshman/sophomore bracket.
Two teams advanced from each pool to form a loaded 12-team playoff. Brockton, Taunton, BB&N and Swampscott, earned the top Four Seeds going undefeated in pool play and having the lowest points against. All of the playoff games were close but when the dust settled the final four teams were BB&N, Taunton, Andover and Marblehead. BB&N edged Taunton, 21-20 in the first semi-final and Marblehead shut down Andover 20-6. BB&N won the toss and on the first play connected on a deep post to grab the lead. Marblehead would answer but a failed extra point left the Knights in front. The game went back and forth, as both teams moved the ball consistently. The difference in the game was the conversions, BB&N made theirs and at one point led to 9-point lead. Marblehead rallied back and scored as time expired to make it 28-25, but even a successful conversion would have left them short, so it was not run. |

Defense Leads Billerica to 2019 East Regional Championship

7/27/2019 - It was a beautiful day in Andover at Greater Lawrence Technical high school, that is, unless you faced the Billerica defense. The Billerica defense was able to put a cloud over every offense they faced on the way to East Regional Championship.
Do to the 30-team field we used a new format which seeded the 12 playoff qualifiers by wins, points against and points scored. With Andover, Billerica, BB&N, Dennis-Yarmouth and Lynn English finishing pool play undefeated it was Billerica claiming the 1 seed after only allowing 19 points in pool play. All the top 4 seeds received a bye to the Quarter-finals. With all 4 of the lower seeds, Revere, Lynn Classical, Beverly and Edward Little, winning the play-in games it appeared it was anyone's tournament to win. However, the top seeds quickly put to rest any Cinderella story when Lynn English escaped in over-time verse Lynn Classical to join the other top seeded teams in the Final 4. Dennis-Yarmouth gave Billerica a run, with the lead changing three times in the final 5-minutes, but D-Y was bounced when their hail-mary fell incomplete. Waiting for Billerica was BB&N who was able to dispatch Lynn English in the other semi-final. In the Championship, both defenses played well as regulation ended dead locked at 6 all. Billerica was able to score in over-time but the conversion failed. BB&N the defending East Champion, had two plays to score and attempt to win it. But on first down from the 10 yard line, Billerica intercepted near the goal line to secure the victory. Billerica and BB&N will advance to the New England Championship July 31st at Bishop Fenwick in Peabody. |

BB&N Captures the East over Milton
7/22/2018 - It was a challenging day for the 40 teams in the East Regional with rain coming down most of the day. Everyone had their fingers crossed, hoping that the weather would allow the tournament to be played and not washed out.
When the sun finally came arrived four teams still had a chance to capture the East Championship. The semi-finals pitted Masco vs Milton and Lynn English vs BB&N. Both games were very competitive with Milton edging Masco by 2 points and BB&N topping English. In the final, BB&N stopped Milton on the opening drive with excellent goal line coverage. The momentum quickly swung and BB&N used quick short passes to score first and added a two-point conversion. Milton went 3 and out and needed a big stop to keep the game within reach. Faced with a 3rd and 15, BB&N connected on beautiful comeback route on the sideline to keep their second drive alive. BB&N cashed in moments later with diving catch on the back of the end zone. They tacked on another two-point conversion and Milton trailed 16-0. BB&N never slowed down and won 24-0. The win qualifies BB&N for the New Championship on July 26th. Milton has already qualified via its second place finish in the North Regional on July 14th. Masco and Lynn English will also be the pool of teams that will eligible to be selected. |

Chelmsford wins all MVC Final FourThe East Regional was packed with talented teams but was an all MVC Final Four. Thanksgiving rivalries stole the show as Lowell/Haverhill and Billerica/Chelmsford semi-final games were both decided by one point. Chelmsford finished a strong day for the Merrimack Valley with a 27-20 win over Lowell in the Championship.
